This is perhaps one of the most endearing months of the year since we celebrate the holiday of love on February 14th.
Yet it is perhaps one of the dreariest months on the calendar since we seldom see or feel the sun during this cold, mid-winter month.
David Viscott's quote is a
wonderful reminder of how being able to both give love and receive love provides an even warmth to our heart and soul. Sometimes we find it easier
to give than to receive this great human emotion called love.
When we give love, we are in control of how much of our heart we can offer another being. On the other hand, in order to receive love
means to open ourselves up by letting down emotional guard walls and exposing our inner selves. This is a vulnerable position that can take us off course into uncharted territory leaving our hearts open to the winds of change.
As we celebrate this holiday of love, let us keep in mind that to be a balanced person we must be able to both give and receive the greatest gift of all, the gift of love. My wish to you is that your heart will always be warmed by the sun, from both sides.
